Zurich, June 4, 2009: 40% of Swiss companies are planning layoffs in the coming 12 months
So far the reaction of Swiss companies to the global economic crisis was to apply “soft” HR measures to adjust their workforce to slowing demand, like introducing short-time work or using up overtime. But this is going to change in the next 12 months: 40% of companies in Switzerland plan to lay-off personnel, in the industrial sector even 55%. Although this is a record high compared to most EU member states, Switzerland is still in a comfortable position with an unemployment rate of about 3%. These are results of a survey of 500 Swiss companies by Adecco Switzerland and the Adecco Institute, the global think tank on the future work, presented today at a press conference in Zurich. – Shepard Fox Communications created and produced the survey report as well as arranged and managed media interviews with the Chairman of the Institute.
