Utrecht, November 12, 2008: 72% of Dutch employers think that skill shortages can be solved by employing older workers, but only 8% are actually willing to hire more older people
A survey of HR decision-makers at 501 Dutch companies shows that Dutch companies are facing a shortage of staff with technical and commercial skills. More than a quarter of the companies surveyed cannot fill the vacancies they have. As many as 72% of employers think that this problem can be solved by employing more older workers and keeping them at work for longer. Only 8% however are prepared to back this up with real plans to employ more older people. – Shepard Fox Communications coordinated the study between the surveying company, Adecco Netherlands and the Adecco Institute, edited the survey report, oversaw the production of the corresponding white paper and arranged for interviews between leading Dutch papers and the Chairman of the Adecco Institute.
