Stockholm, April 19, 2011: Filings at the European Patent Office grew by 11% in 2010 – Swedish dental implant pioneer nominted for European Inventor Award
The European Patent Office (EPO) received 235,000 European patent filings in 2010, up 11% from 2009, and the highest number ever in the Office’s 34-year history. Swedish businesses filed 4,279 applications with the EPO, an increase of 2.3% on the previous year. Most applications from Sweden were filed in the areas of Information and Communication technologies and medical technology. Underlining Sweden’s strong position in medical technology, Per-Ingvar Brånemark, a dental implant pioneer, was nominated as one of the 15 candidates for the prestigious European Inventor Award. – As part of a pan-European assignment covering Scandinavia, the Benelux, France, the UK, and Hungary, Shepard Fox Communications is handling all media relations in Sweden for the European Inventor Award on behalf of the European Patent Office.
