Brussels, March 6, 2013: Record number of patent filings – Shepard Fox supports Annual Results presentation of European Patent Office
The European Patent Office today announced its 2012 Annual Results at an international press conference in Brussels: in 2012, the number of patent filings at the European Patent Office (EPO) originating from the 38 EPO member states reached a new peak, beating the previous record set in 2008. Last year, the EPO received a total of 257 744 patent filings from all over the world. This represents a 5.2% increase over 2011 (244 934) and sets a new record. Shepard Fox was in charge of drafting the press release in 15 different country versions for Europe, Asia, and the US. Shepard Fox’s tasks also included: the translations of the press releases, the press kit, inviting journalists to the press conference in Brussels, running the press desk, managing the press conference and the interviews with the President of the European Patent Office, Benoît Battistelli.
