The Adecco Institute (London), think tank of the world’s largest HR services provider, recently studied the educational standard of Europe’s skilled workforce. According to that study, around 30% of companies in Europe are unable to fill positions that require specific technical skills. According to a study carried out by the International Labor Organisation (ILO), politicians have largely recognized that the answer to the fundamental challenge of skills shortages is education. Recognition by politicians of the importance of further education is not enough, however. Companies and employers are generally still not sufficiently aware of the need for further education and training. – Those are key messages of a column by Adecco Institute Chairman Wolfgang Clement for the Chinese Business Watch Magazine.
