Zurich, May 18, 2010: Further education and training pays off: 12.6% return per year on a 10.000 Euro investment
How do you earn double-digit returns on investment in times of crisis? By investing in yourself. That is the result of a survey of 40 executives who increased their salaries by 12.6%, on average, after they spent 10.000 Euro on executive training. The training aimed primarily at enhancing leadership skills. A personal coach helped each participant define the goals of their training. No participant listed a higher salary as a primary goal. In most cases, though, improved social and leadership skills led to an increase in pay. The return was calculated by deducting the initial investment from discounted salary increases observed over a three-year period. The survey was done by the University of Zurich, Department of Strategy and Business Economics, in cooperation with Choice Executive Coaching. – Shepard Fox Communications supported the survey, summarized its results, issued press releases and arranged for media interviews with the initiator of the study, executive coach and INSEAD professor Christina Kuenzle.
