London, July 3, 2024: For the first time, the proportion of women on Germany’s top supervisory boards reaches the 40% mark – Shepard Fox supports executive search firm Russell Reynolds in promoting results of its research studies

For the first time in history, the total proportion of women shareholder representatives in the supervisory boards of the 40 largest German listed companies reached the 40% mark. In 25 out of 40 DAX companies, the proportion of women is now at or above 40%. SAP and Adidas have fallen below the legally required 30%. Despite the DAX 40 approaching the 40% threshold, compared with other major European stock indices, it sits in the middle of the table. France tops the list with women holding 46% of their board seats, followed by Norway, Italy, the UK, Denmark and the Netherlands. Germany is in seventh place, ahead of Spain, Finland, Sweden and Switzerland.

For the past 14 years, the executive search firm and leadership consultancy Russell Reynolds Associates has been conducting this analysis for Germany and other countries. Shepard Fox Communications has been supporting Russell Reynolds for the past six years by promoting its research papers and international surveys on leadership topics through media relations. This includes developing media content from the studies and surveys, such as press releases, social media posts, and content for the company’s website. Additionally, Shepard Fox supports Russell Reynolds in arranging media interviews and creating and placing thought-leadership articles.
