Patent applications for additive manufacturing (AM), also known as 3D printing, increased at an average annual rate of 36% in recent years, a new study from the European Patent Office (EPO) shows. This is more than ten times greater than the average yearly growth of all applications at the Office combined in the same period (3.5%). The steep rise in 3D innovations has the potential to help redesign global supply chains, making them more resilient. The report was published today during a virtual EPO conference. – Shepard Fox supports the EPO in promoting both the conference and the study by creating localized press releases for European countries as well as for the United States, and distributing the releases to media outlets. Further support comprises arranging and facilitating media interviews with EPO experts, answering media requests as well as media monitoring.
