Zurich, March 30, 2011: The mechanical engineering and metal industries are Switzerland’s biggest economic sector, accounting for 20% of GDP, ahead of the banking industry

Neither watches nor chocolate nor the financial and banking industry are Switzerland’s most important economic sectors, but the mechanical engineering, electrical and metal industries, employing 350,000 people and contributing 20 percent to GDP and 40 percent to Swiss exports. This was pointed out at a business meeting in Germany, hosted by the Swiss Embassy and the Swiss Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, and aimed at German entrepreneurs and investors who are looking for locations that are favorable to production and international trade. – Shepard Fox Communications has been hired to do all media and public relations work to promote Switzerland as a prime business location in Germany.
