Venice, February 17, 2011: 17 million Europeans allergic to food; allergies in children doubled in the last ten years
About 17 million people in Europe suffer from food allergies. Allergies in children between 0 and 5 have doubled over the last ten years and access to the emergency room for severe anaphylactic reactions has increased seven-fold. These latest figures are going to be discussed by over 600 top health experts in Venice, Italy during the 2011 Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Meeting by the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) that opens today. – Shepard Fox Communications was commissioned by the EAACI to raise public awareness for food allergies across Europe, which included drafting press releases, translating them into seven languages, and distributing the EACCI’s findings to health editors of trade and general interest media in Spain, France, the UK, the Benelux, Scandinavia, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.
